What kind of vehicle do I need to tow one of your trailers?
Our SHIFTR trailers have a dry weight of roughly 2200 lbs and a loaded weight under 8,000 lbs with most cars. Any half-ton truck or SUV rated to tow at least 7,000 lbs — F-150, Tahoe, Ram 1500, Silverado 1500, Expedition, Sequoia — will handle the job comfortably. If you're not sure, send us your tow vehicle and we'll confirm.
Do I need a special license or CDL?
No. A standard driver's license is all that's required in most states. Combined trailer + load weight stays well below the CDL threshold for non-commercial use.
What documents do I need to reserve?
A valid driver's license, proof of auto insurance on the tow vehicle, and a major credit card for the refundable deposit. That's it.
Is the trailer insured? What about my car?
The trailer is insured under StradaMoto's commercial policy while in our possession. During your rental, liability rides on your tow vehicle's policy (standard in all 50 states). Optional damage protection caps your out-of-pocket on in-transit trailer damage at $500. Your car's own coverage — street or track — is your responsibility.
Can I use the trailer for HPDE / track days?
Yes, that's exactly who we built this for. Track day use is explicitly permitted. Share the event on the reservation form (Summit Point, VIR, New Jersey Motorsports Park, wherever) so we can tune pickup timing to the weekend.
Do you deliver the trailer?
Pickup from our facility is our current option.
What cars fit?
Most cars with wheelbase under 108" and ground clearance over 3" fit our open trailers. Send us your model and ride height if you're unsure.
What's the minimum rental period?
24 hours. Most customers book 2–3 day weekends. Extended and weekly rates kick in automatically at 3+ and 7+ days.
How do cancellations work?
72+ hours before pickup: full refund. 24–72 hours: 50% refund. Inside 24 hours: deposit forfeited, no other charges. Weather-related cancellations — smoke, road closures, track rain-outs — handled case by case. We've all been there.
